No school today – Monday, January 15 – for students and staff.

Wrestling, Nordic Skiing and Intramural Volleyball are underway!

  • Wrestling – First scheduled meet is Friday, January 19 @ Kenai – 3:00 pm
  • Nordic Skiing – First scheduled meet is Friday, January 26 @ Kenai – 3:00 pm
  • Intramural Volleyball – Ends Friday, January 26.  Competitive Volleyball begins Monday, January 39.

Student fees for third quarter electives, Volleyball Intramurals, XC Skiing, and Wrestling are now loaded in Power School and available for online payments.  Student fees can also be paid at the school office via cash or check during normal office hours.

Wrestling shirts, sweatshirts and pull-overs are available for purchase online at: http://www.myfanstand.com/Showroom/SkyviewMSWrestling/512529.  The online store will only be active until January 16, 2018.

Second Semester Student Council Membership drive is underway.  If you are not currently a member of Student Council but would like to join, NOW is the chance!  Membership contracts can be picked up outside Mrs. Pothast’s classroom door and are due back to her no later than January 25th.  Please talk to any Student Council Leadership member or Mrs. Pothast if you have any questions.

The Panther Student Council is sponsoring a donation drive to benefit Project Homeless Connect January 16th through January 19th.  Items needed for Comfort Bags include:  Travel sized:  deodorant, wet wipes, body wash, tissue, hand/foot warmers, Q tips, and mini first aid kits.  Also needed are non-perishable snack items and peanut butter.  Donations can be dropped off at Mrs. Pothast’s classroom or in the bin by the front office.  Please consider donating to this worthy cause which supports our neighbors in need.

2018 BP Teacher and BP Educational Allies Award – Nominate Your Favorite Teacher, Principal, Teaching Assistant, School Nurse, Counselor, Volunteer or Unsung Hero.  Deadline is February 1.  Please visit www.bpteachers.com to recognize an outstanding Kenai Peninsula Borough School District staff member.

Many thanks to all those who contributed to the Holiday Food Drive!  Skyview Middle School was able to donate 1,027 pounds of food to the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank to help our neighbors in need this holiday season.  The Panther Student Council appreciates everyone’s efforts on this service project!

A SPECIAL LETTER OF THANKS:
Skyview Middle School staff and students would like to thank the Kenai Peninsula Association of Realtors for their very generous donation of $1785.00 to use towards scholarships for 20 students to go on the 3rd annual Alyeska Ski trip!  With this donation, every student that signed up got to go!  A very special thanks to Lyndy Wackler, member of the Kenai Peninsula Association of Realtors for organizing this effort.  Many local realtors donated to this cause.  Thank you!
